NORTHERN ONTARIO JACKLEG DRILLING COMPETITIONS
SCHEDULE: Wednesday, June 5th. 11:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m.

Jay Cornelsen, originator (assigned by Glenn Dredhart organizer of Canadian Tradex) of the Jackleg Drillers Contest, will be on hand at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday June 5th. to say fare well to competitors. The competition will now be handled by Frank Giorno, currently Chief Writer for Mining Life and Exploration News.
Cornelsen, has been Chief Organizer of the event since 2010 when Paul Remillard, now a Superintendent of Dumas Contracting Ltd. was the first winner of the Jackleg Trophy designed and created by Ernie Fauvelle of Haileybury, Ontario. Coming in second was Jeff Pegg, Kirkland Lake Gold and third was Steven Cornelsen, now at Canada’s first all-electric mine at Newmont Goldcorp Borden Mine near Chapleau. Steven drives the industry-first twin-boom Sandvik DD422iE using electric energy from an on-board battery.
Special Cake to say goodbye to Jay will be served free for any of the jackleg competitors and their kids along with a Miner’s Barbecue for family members between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. by the Jackleg rocks. Wednesday June 5th. only.
Special Note: Sarah Delorme - became the world’s first Novice Jackleg Queen in 2011. She is now the Human Resources Specialist for the City of Timmins.
Registration for the Jackleg starts at 11 a.m. Wednesday June 5th. by the rocks at the First Nations Partnership Teepee right after the Curling Rink (Arena 2). Be sure and come early to register for our general entrance 1 oz. Gold Bar Draw!

11:30 A.M. NORTHERN MAYORS/CELEBRITY CHALLENGE (Starts right after the Grand Opening Celebrations). Prize is “Pushing the Ore Cart” by Northern Sculptor Ernie Fauvelle.
12:30 P.M. Queen Jacklegger Invitational (Novice Ladies). Any Lady may join.

RULES - POINT SYSTEMS
Northern Ontario Mayors Celebrity and Novice Jackleg Queen Challenge (Novice Ladies Only)
Note: all equipment and gear are provided - bring warm socks
1 hole to be drilled to specified depth of 24”
1 point will be deducted for every 1/8" deviation from plan.
In case of a tie ..speed, organization and safety will be taken into account
Northern “King” Pro Jackleg Drilling Competitions (Professionals only - All gender)
Note: all equipment and gear are provided -bring warm socks
OBJECTIVE: To safely complete the set up and dismantling of a S250 Secan Jackleg Drill. Safely collaring and completing two drill holes to a minimum depth of 600 mm. with a centre to centre distance of 6 inches.
SCORING: Timer stops only when you stand up your rig. Speed comprises only one element of the scoring. Safe work habits, maintaining a safe work environment, precision hole alignment and professional conduct will be the major marking criteria. In case of a tie, the judges decision is final.
